Valerie came to yoga over a decade ago reluctantly at first, and mostly because it seemed like “the cool thing to do” at the time. Eventually, yoga won, and the practice became an integral part of her physical and spiritual life. As a clinical social worker/psychotherapist, she knew she wanted to integrate yoga into healing work, and completed teacher training in 2016 at Sanctuary for Yoga in Nashville. Valerie then taught gentle yoga classes and individual sessions at a treatment center for eating disorders, addictions, and trauma, until leaving to form her own private practice in 2017. She now teaches at Inner Light Yoga, and integrates yoga into her work with therapy clients. After recently training with James Fox, the founder of Prison Yoga Project, Valerie is looking forward to starting teaching with Small World Yoga soon within the local prison/detention centers.
