I’m new to yoga, where should I start?

All of our classes are beginner friendly and our instructors are happy to guide you through any modifications you might need for your practice, so we encourage all new students to stop by and practice with us. If you are unsure of where to start, however, here are a few suggestions:

  • For a gentle, restorative yoga class, try a Deep Rest class.
  • To build strength, move, and have a good sweat, try our heated Power Flow .
  • To build strength with a more gentle, unheated flow, try one of our free classes offered through our community partners throughout Middle TN.

What does my $10 donation support?

Every dollar donated at the SWY Community Studio directly supports SWY’s mission to connect people and create community through yoga. By attending a class at this studio, you play a role in increasing access to yoga and creating opportunities for continued growth  at community centers, prisons, schools, recovery centers, homeless shelters, libraries, and more.

How should I prepare for class?

Hydrate! We encourage students to hydrate before and after their yoga practice. The Power Flow style classes are heated, and we live in Nashville, so, be prepared to sweat. The studio does have two showers for students to use after class if needed.

What should I wear to class?

We recommend comfortable athletic clothing that you can move and sweat in.

What should I bring to class?

A yoga mat, a towel, water, and a water bottle! We have filtered water on site. You may leave any personal items in the lobby. We will lock the doors while the class is in session.

What do I do if I don’t have or forget a yoga mat or towel?

We offer yoga mats and towels for rent at $2 each.

Where can I park?

Parking is free in front of the studio, but we share the spaces with our neighbors. During weekday business hours, we ask that SWY students park in unmarked spots in the lot in front of the SWY Community Studio. On evenings and weekends, all spots are fair game. Additionally, free parking is available along 12th Ave.

How early should I show up for class?

For your first class, please arrive 10–15 minutes before class to ensure enough time to sign-in and get settled. The doors will be locked when class begins. It is at the teacher’s discretion to let in students that arrive late.

Do I need to sign up for class?

Yes, you can sign-up for classes on MindBody or ClassPass. We do allow walk-ins if the class is not at capacity.

Can I purchase a class pack for the studio?

Yes! We offer various class packages for purchase online or in person.

What is your refund policy?

All purchases and donations for classes, workshops, and events are final sale. If you have any questions or issues, please email studio@smallworldyoga.org.

What do I do if I leave my stuff at the studio?

We have a lost and found bin in the studio. Feel free to stop by and pick up your items––studio doors open 30 minutes before a scheduled class. Additionally, you may email studio@smallworldyoga.org or call (615) 784-9642 if you have left anything.
