Chair yoga // What is it & why is it important?
When you picture people practicing yoga, the stereotypical scene is a group of younger individuals in a studio practicing on mats. But, yoga can be SO beneficial for everybody and every body, including those with mobility issues or disabilities. That’s where practicing chair yoga comes in.
Chair yoga is a form of yoga as therapy that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. The benefits of chair yoga range from improved strength + flexibility to decreased stress.
We’re proud to offer chair yoga at a few of our library classes and many of our closed yoga classes around town. AND, we offer a free chair yoga training for SWY teachers so that they can continue to share this practice!
